Music and engineering brought Brenda Escobeda to Moraine Valley. “I was involved in the college’s community band during my senior year of high school and I really liked it,” she says. Some of her fellow band members suggested she consider Moraine Valley, so she started looking into all the programs available. “Once I found the Engineering Pathways Program, it just kind of clicked.”

Read MoreSince Gabriela Avitia was a young child, her dream was to learn numerous languages. “I want to be able to communicate with as many people as possible,” said Avitia, whose native language is Spanish. She also speaks English fluently and is studying French and Arabic. Once she graduates from Moraine Valley, she plans to transfer to a local university to earn a bachelor’s degree in Arabic Studies.
