It’s been a while since Shervon Verlaux was in school but now that she’s back she’s in the driver’s seat, and there’s no slowing her down.

Helena Janinah has been granted a Presidential Scholarship to attend the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago.

Rebeca Lagunas moved to the United States with her family when she was 10 years old and is happy to be continuing her education at Moraine Valley.

When Yasir Muhammed was 6 years old he wanted to be an author. When he turned 8 years old, he thought about being a cinematographer. Then at 12 years old he decided he would be an actor, and at 18, a singer. “Now I’m 20, and I want to do it all.”

“I feel like if I major in chemical engineering, I can use those skills to possibly find out different ways to help people,” says Ethan Gallant, who is deeply interested in sustainability issues. “Clean water is important and degrading plastic is important, and things like that are all based around chemicals.”

Hadiza Stanley’s heart and the culture in her homeland influenced her choice to become a nurse, while convenience and affordability played the biggest roles in her choice to attend Moraine Valley.
