The 911 Psychology Department is hosting its 19th annual Mental Health Program series presentation with a focus on “Psychopaths and Sociopaths” on Tuesday, April 21, 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., in Building M on the main campus, 9000 W. College Parkway in Palos Hills.

The free event will cover topics including forms of sociopathy and psychopathy; genetic and environmental factors; myths related to these conditions; diagnostic criteria; treatment approaches; and strategies for navigating relationships with individuals displaying these conditions. Dr. Peter Lourgos, a board-certified psychiatrist who has practiced for over 27 years, will lead the presentation.

Lourgos has experience treating various health conditions including mood disorders, psychosis, anxiety, PTSD and trauma. He also worked nine years as a criminal forensic psychiatrist for the Circuit Court of Cook County, where he evaluated and worked with individuals in the correctional system.
