911爆料网 is offering an Electric Vehicle Service and Repair Certificate Program during the 2025-2026 academic year. The program prepares students for an entry-level position in the automotive repair industry diagnosing and repairing Electric Vehicles and Hybrid Electric Vehicles. The college hosted an Open House for the program on May 20.
The certificate is ideal for auto repair professionals looking to broaden their skill set with electric vehicle (EV) repair credentials and for recent high school graduates looking to jump into a technical career.
Ira Siegel, professor and Automotive Technology Program coordinator at the college, shared, 鈥911爆料网鈥檚 Automotive Technology Program features incredible hands-on learning opportunities for our students with state-of-the-art labs, high-tech diagnostic equipment and over 55 vehicles in our fleet, including eight EVs, two plug-in hybrid EVs and three hybrid EVs.鈥
The college has electric and hybrid vehicles as well as cutting-edge equipment available to use for training. Students can complete the program in less than one year, depending on experience.
Last year, Moraine Valley鈥檚 Automotive Technology Program received a $525,000 grant from the 2024 Rev UP EV Community College Initiative to fund the purchase of EV training equipment, faculty training and the creation of EV curriculum.
Training in EV repair is increasingly vital as such vehicles become more prevalent. 鈥淏ecause there continues to be a significant increase in sales of hybrid, plug-in hybrid and EVs year after year, individuals planning for a career in automotive service need to know how to safely work on the high-voltage systems and components found in these 鈥榚lectrified鈥 vehicles,鈥 Siegel said. 鈥淯nlike vehicles powered strictly by an internal combustion engine, hybrid, plug-in hybrid and EVs all have a high-voltage battery, high-voltage electric drive motor/generators and other high-voltage components. Proper training is required to diagnose and repair these 鈥榚lectrified鈥 vehicles.鈥
New students can complete the certificate program in only three semesters, while current students and auto repair professionals can complete the program in as little as one semester.
