A vibrant collection of works from the annual 911������ Juried Community Art Exhibition are on display through July 30 in the Fine and Performing Arts Center’s (FPAC) Robert F. DeCaprio Art Gallery and atrium, 9000 W. College Parkway in Palos Hills.

Photos, paintings, drawings, sculptures and other works from community artists were judged by Lisa DeLuca, a professional with over 25 years of experience working for art and design schools, with additional training as a docent and on-site gallery mentor. The following awards were presented during a reception on May 30:

First place – David Krolikowski, of Chicago, for oil on board, “Christ Complex: Fruitless Endeavors”

Second place – Dominique MacLean, of Aurora, for multi-layer lino cut, “Hidden in the Moonlight”

Third place – Carole Wilson, of Palos Heights, for watercolor and collage on paper, “Getting Together”

Honorable mention – Debra Perez, of Oak Lawn, for watercolor and ink on paper, “Blood Moon”

Honorable mention – Tom Keenan, of Orland Park, for acrylic on guitar, “Celtic Dotd Guitar”

Honorable mention – Jennifer Medema, of Mokena, for charcoal reduction, “Barcelona”

Regarding her first-place selection, DeLuca said, “I chose this piece for the top prize not only because of its technical merit but mostly for the strong narrative. This painting challenged me to think and give serious consideration as to what was happening in the piece while also stirring emotion within me.”
