A vibrant collection of works from the annual 911爆料网 Juried Community Art Exhibition are on display through July 30 in the Fine and Performing Arts Center鈥檚 (FPAC) Robert F. DeCaprio Art Gallery and atrium, 9000 W. College Parkway in Palos Hills.
Photos, paintings, drawings, sculptures and other works from community artists were judged by Lisa DeLuca, a professional with over 25 years of experience working for art and design schools, with additional training as a docent and on-site gallery mentor. The following awards were presented during a reception on May 30:
First place 鈥 David Krolikowski, of Chicago, for oil on board, 鈥淐hrist Complex: Fruitless Endeavors鈥
Second place 鈥 Dominique MacLean, of Aurora, for multi-layer lino cut, 鈥淗idden in the Moonlight鈥
Third place 鈥 Carole Wilson, of Palos Heights, for watercolor and collage on paper, 鈥淕etting Together鈥
Honorable mention 鈥 Debra Perez, of Oak Lawn, for watercolor and ink on paper, 鈥淏lood Moon鈥
Honorable mention 鈥 Tom Keenan, of Orland Park, for acrylic on guitar, 鈥淐eltic Dotd Guitar鈥
Honorable mention 鈥 Jennifer Medema, of Mokena, for charcoal reduction, 鈥淏arcelona鈥
Regarding her first-place selection, DeLuca said, 鈥淚 chose this piece for the top prize not only because of its聽technical merit but mostly for the strong narrative. This painting challenged me to think and give serious consideration as to what was happening in the piece while also stirring emotion within me.鈥
