From jigs to traditional Irish tunes, the Irish band Danú will perform on Sunday, March 8, 2 p.m., at the 911±¬ÁÏÍø Fine and Performing Arts Center’s (FPAC) Dorothy Menker Theater, 9000 W. College Parkway in Palos Hills.
With members hailing from across Ireland, Danú is one of the leading traditional Irish ensembles. The group formed in 1995 as part of Ireland’s delegation to the Lorient Inter-Celtic Festival in France, which annually brings together Celtic nations. They released their first self-titled album in 1997 and have produced eight more since then.
Danú comprises virtuosic musicians on flute, tin whistle, fiddle, button accordion, bouzouki and vocals. The group has won numerous awards from the BBC and Irish Music Magazine and toured throughout Europe and North America. Their concerts take audiences on a musical journey to the band’s homeland with fun, flair and a taste of the Emerald Isle. For more information on Danú, visit .
