An accordion and clarinet start a band…it sounds like the lead up to a punchline but instead describes musical duo Bridge & Wolak in “Scandalous Romantics” on Saturday, March 28, 7:30 p.m., at the 911 Fine and Performing Arts Center (FPAC), 9000 W. College Parkway in Palos Hills.
With Michael Bridge on the digital accordion and Kornel Wolak on the clarinet and piano, this pair fuses classical, jazz and world music genres, exploring works from Bach to Benny Goodman. They have toured the world, performing concerts surveying musical hits spanning from the 17th century to modern pop.
“Scandalous Romantics” is a hilarious tabloid take on the stories of celebrated music stars across genres. Bridge & Wolak will “expose” the lust, pride and envy that fueled some of the greatest scores from Mozart’s “Marriage of Figaro” and Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You” to Chopin’s “Nocturne No. 20” and more.
Each performer grew up playing instruments and has a doctorate in music. Together, they developed an online music mentorship program for students considering a career in the arts. For more information on Bridge & Wolak, visit .
